Ladies and gentlemen, you know very well that bikini season and the time for company and family picnics is upon us. If you’re looking to increase your energy and maybe drop a few pounds, here are some quick tips for losing weight and feeling great:
1. Eat more vegetables. It’s summer and fresh vegetables are abundant in grocery stores and at farmers’ markets. Focus on cruciferous veggies for extra fiber, lots of free-radical-kicking anti-oxidants, and to satisfy your crunch cravings.
2. Go for color. Choose fruits and vegetables that make your plate look pretty. You will get more phytonutrients this way and give your body a broad spectrum of vitamins. Eat green (broccoli) for healthy blood, orange (carrots) for healthy eyes, red (bell peppers and tomatoes) for energy and vitality, blue (blueberries) for anti-aging, and purple (eggplant) for cellular communication.
3. Drink more water. What health-related tips list would be complete without this. Cool (not ice cold) and fresh filtered (not stuck in a plastic bottle). Drink when you’re thirsty; drink when you’re hungry. Strive for about half your body weight in ounces (if you weight 140 pounds, go for 70 oz water).
If you choose even one of these things you will start to feel better and more connected to the change of weather and the changes going on in your body that the summer provides. Eat better and give your body better fuel so it can do the things it wants to do.
Now stop reading this post and go outside and play!
