I’ve been thinking. A lot. And I think it’s time for me to start blogging about all these thoughts I’ve been having! Stay tuned and come back often.
I’ll probably be doing more blogging and sending my enewsletter subscribers the link to my blog so I can have more of a dialog, because that is one thing I love about being a nutrition counselor and healthy lifestyle coach–the human part of helping people solve their health problems. I mean, really, I can’t help you without you, can I?
So, starting now, I’m going to be doing more posting and giving you food for thought. Be ready to look for posts on any one (or more) of the things that I believe are required for complete and optimal health. Chew on these.
1. You gotta wanna. What is your story? What are your aches and pains and things you wish were different? Do you have a clear picture of what life would be like if you didn’t have the complaints and concerns you have now? What would you do? How would you feel? What would you look like?
2. Recipes and food ideas about stuff that’s good and healthy and actually tastes good. Also included here is “what I just ate or what I’m making for dinner.” These little thoughts have gone over very well on FaceBook (Sally Toth Galloway) and Twitter (@sallyfoodcoach), and I love sharing the crazy stuff I make (like cheesy tilapia waffles last night–I know, I was surprised too).
3. Health and wellness research blurbs and headlines like the one I posted the other day: Vitamin D supplements are 800% more effective than the flu vaccine. Please get your kids out of the doctor’s office and into the sunshine. And please make sure they’re taking a good multivitamin. See number 4.
4. News/tidbits on supplements (I support dietary and nutritional supplements that support your body’s natural processes–not the crazy stuff that messes with hormonal balance and homeostasis). What’s good, what to look for, how to choose, therapeutic uses of herbs and spices, stuff like that. I am the Condiment Queen and Kitchen Pharmacist.
5. ideas for activities and ways to play and move your body–I really don’t like to use the “e” word–that are fun, sustainable (meaning you’ll probably do them again and get value from it), and effective (meaning if you find some activity you like and you do it multiple times, you’ll likely notice a change in the way you look and/or feel). Gotta love that.
6. Stress management–ways to mitigate the yuck. Yes, some stress does come from having too much good in our lives that’s a challenge to balance. Some stress is simply a big change or a lot of change (a new baby, a new house, a promotion or change in job), but most of my clients want ways to find peace and calm in the midst of yuck. That’s primarily this topic.
7. Support systems–who you gonna call? Do you have a coach, a neighbor, a personal trainer, or a good friend to support you and keep you honest when you go out for ice cream the day after you’ve just told her you want to lose a few pounds before Thanksgiving? In addition, there are lots of ways to build in accountability that don’t cost a lot of money but are priceless in their rewards.
There you have it. Hope to see you back here soon.
