Keeping Life Juicy

Yesterday was a whirlwind day. I let the people in my world know that my first book, Vitamin Soup, A Recipe for Soulful Nourishment from A to Z, was being served on Amazon.com. I am humbled and grateful that the book reached #1 in Mind-Body-Spirit books; #2 in Health, Dieting and Fitness books; and all the way to #40 in Medical Books-Nursing! WOW!! (Get your copy here if you haven’t already!)

So now that the rush is over, how do I keep singing “Celebrate good times; come on!” and not B.B. King’s “The Thrill is Gone”? How do we keep doing the things that nourish us and get us excited when the humdrum and doldrums of life do not make us want to get up and dance?

By keeping life juicy. Here is an excerpt from my book, Vitamin Soup, for my friend Jill, who is living a double life, similar to mine. Jill, this juice is for you:
Juicy

Keeping life juicy!

Vitamin J: Juiciness

Which sounds like more fun: “Have a nice day!” or “Have a juicy day!” Oh, yeah. Definitely juicy.

What pops into your mind? What makes you really happy?

When you create your to-do list for the day or week, what do you always do first (regardless of its priority)? Conversely, look at what you avoid doing—no matter how urgent or high on your list it is.

What do you end up focusing on or choosing to do even if it is not among your top priorities?

Which parts of your life excite and energize you? Washing the dishes? Walking your dog? Reading a novel? Writing a blog post?

What in your life is juiciest? Enjoy more of that!

Good advice as we navigate the hubbub of the holidays. How do we keep focused on the stuff we “have to do” so we get to the stuff we “get to do”? It’s all integrated. But that’s a vitamin for another day.

The stuff that makes my life juicy? Good question. Ok…it is homemade caramels, getting a client to really cry and get truthful with themselves, and laughing at a silly joke from my hfusband. Hearing my daughter say she loves me, and kissing my son’s chubby cheeks. Seeing and hearing the crunch of freshly fallen snow. Your blog post today was awesome, and helped me see the perspective of a bigger vision for my life. Thanks!

You are so welcome, Jill! Perspective is everything when it comes down to being at choice, isn’t it?
I wish you a juicy and wonderful holiday, filled with carmels, laughter, love, and kisses!
